Cast and Crew: Day 1

Those who know me, know I love food, so when a new restaurant opens in Belfast, I always try to get along and see what it’s like! So, that’s exactly what we did yesterday…on the very first day of Cast and Crew! We were quick!

Cast and Crew is located in a former bank opposite Titanic Belfast and is owned by the team behind James Street South, The Bar+Grill and Hadskis. (A lot to live up to already.) It was only a month or so ago that I saw that it was opening, so it was such a quick turnaround!

Cast and Crew has quite an American diner feel to it- with burgers, hot dogs and Mac & Cheese making the lunch menu. Saying that, there are also some more “NI-favourites” on there too, such as homemade Irish Stew and local fish, chips and mushy peas.

There were five in our company – two went for the Cast burger, one picked the Hot Dog and two (including myself) opted for the Chilli Dog. The Cast burger is a 6oz steak burger served with lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickle, house relish and chips (£8.50), while the Chilli Dog, is a smoked hot dog with onions, pickle, ketchup, mustard, chilli mince and cheese, served with chips (£10.50).

The Chilli Dog was tasty, but not overly spicy (just a personal preference.) It was a good-sized portion with nice homemade chips. Everyone enjoyed their meal and agreed it’s a handy place for the businesses, students and tourists around the Titanic Quarter. The 90-seater restaurant was packed when we arrived (lucky we had booked a table!) and there was a queue out the door.

It will be interesting to see how the restaurant performs once the hype dies down (I’m sure many people were there just to be nosey, like ourselves!) but it offers a good alternative to restaurants in the area, it does takeaway, and the food is tasty so no doubt it will be one to watch!

  1. Hi, your post today reminded me to thank you for your C&C post. I buried Belfast a couple of months ago to research at PRONI in the Titanic Quarter; thanks to your recommendation/review, I had a couple of excellent lunches which powered my research. Keep up the good work!
