Last weekend (after our lovely lunch at Jakberry) we headed off to W5, the discovery centre at the Odyssey Arena. I’d been to W5 before for conferences but never to the interactive exhibits. Along with Barry’s two nieces and my two small cousins, we made our way through the different levels, discovering (amongst much more) the world of space, lasers, transport and the animal kingdom. We spent about 3 hours there, and the kids definitely did not want to go home!
As the wedding draws closer (just four months to go now), we’re starting to finalise some things, as well as only starting to arrange others! The La Mon Hotel contacted us a few weeks ago about picking our wedding menu, and coming up for a food taste. Before we went we decided upon either the soup or the Caesar salad, the chicken or the slow beef and the cheesecake or the Pavlova. When we arrived we tried one of each dish and the food was delicious! It was a tough decision, but I think we’ve made our final choice! I’ll not say what it is just yet!
I’m delighted to say that Barry’s sister Maeve got engaged this month! Massive congratulations to Maeve and Gary! So that’s two siblings now planning a wedding. Maeve held an afternoon tea party in her house last weekend and as a surprise, Barry’s other sister, Clara, made her an amazing cake! Just look at it! The perfect cake for someone with a sweet tooth!
Finally, on Tuesday night we went to Horatio Todds restaurant in east Belfast for dinner. My friend Julie and her husband Dan were home from England so we decided to catch up. For mains I had the Pork and Apple Burger and chips, while for dessert I picked the Chocolate Cookie Sandwich. It was basically a cookie topped with ice-cream, covered with another cookie, smothered with chocolate sauce and then finished with fresh cream. Oh my word- it was rich and it was filling! A great meal with great company.
