On Sunday it was exactly six months until my wedding! How fast will that go in! I’m doing well with the organising, getting my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses in one afternoon last week! We still have a few things to organise, such as rings, honeymoons and the men’s suits. So for some inspiration, myself and my mum headed to the Wedding Journal show at the King’s Hall on Sunday.
Obviously getting married for the first time, I’d never been to such a show before, but I’d heard loads about it, particularly the ‘Win a 25K Wedding’ competition. What an incredible prize!
We headed down about 2 in the afternoon, making our way to the main stage just in time to see the bridal fashion show, featuring wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, mother of the bride outfits, and grooms’ suits. It was a big production, with some particularly fancy dancing from the male models! The suits were lovely and I definitely picked up some tips for Barry.
The show was followed by the competition which saw nine excited couples battle it out to win the wedding. The nine couples were a mixture of daily winners on Citybeat, votes on Facebook and those picked out of a hat each day at the show itself. I’d entered Sunday’s draw but sadly wasn’t the lucky one chosen.
The atmosphere was great as the couples were whittled down from nine to four, to the final two, to the lucky one! The winning couple came away with an incredible package inducing a reception at Cabra Castle and a honeymoon from Pinnacle Worldwide! (Incidentally , the winning couple, Kyle and Emma, were originally the ones picked at random from Friday’s show visitors.)
We then headed to the VIP section which was a lovely area set up with a bar and cocktail tables. VIP ticket holders were treated to a glass of Prosecco and a goody bag! I was very impressed with the goody bag which not only included some nibbles such as Linwoods seeds, Popchips and Eat Natural fruit and nut bar, but also beauty products such as Kiko Milano mascara, Tisserand aromatherapy roller ball and Dove Hair BB- cream. The VIP section was also lucky to get the chance to sample wedding cake and favours as we listened to wedding bands and singers belt out their songs!
After tasting too many gorgeous chocolates and cake, we then spent over an hour walking round and talking to some of the 250 different stall holders, including Midas Jewellers, La Mon (where I’m getting married), Remus Uomo, Divinity Bridal and the Hootenannys wedding band.
We left the show about 5pm, surprised we’d spent over three hours there! We had a great afternoon and I left inspired! Under 6 months to go now! Bridal Fashion Show VIP Bar Mum at the VIP Bar The winning couple Kyle and Emma
