I’m not one for fitness. Never have been!

So, when the opportunity came up to take part in a free ten-week programme called Jog Belfast, and I registered for it, I’m sure one or two people were surprised- myself included!

The initiative, run by Belfast City Council, is for beginners who want to build up their fitness and eventually run a 5k Parkrun at the end of the 10 weeks.

I don’t live far from Girls Model school in north Belfast where one of the programmes is taking place so I signed up- as did 180 other people I’m told (with over 100 on a waiting list!)

It’s two nights a week- Monday and Wednesday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

We kicked off last week, so I’ve already completed 4 of the 20 classes. I have to admit I’m enjoying it so far (despite the fact I am unfit!) and am looking forward to saying I’ve done a 5k run!

For someone who wouldn’t run the length of themselves, it will be an achievement! I’ll keep you updated on progress!
