Last night I attended a VIP screening of new romantic comedy Love, Rosie at the Odyssey Cinemas, thanks to IN! Magazine. But it wasn’t just a pre-screening but rather a chance to meet the author of the book the film is based on, none other than Cecelia Ahern!
The movie is an adaptation of her 2004 novel, Where Rainbows End and after some drinks and canapés, we were then taken into the cinema were Cecilia was interviewed by Rebecca McKinney from the Cool FM breakfast show. It was a great chance to hear from the author about where she gets her inspiration from, how she balances writing with family life and of course, how it feels to see her book on the ‘big screen’!
After the interview, we were then treated to the film, five days before it opens in cinemas around the UK. I haven’t read the book but my mum who was with me has, and so she was really looking forward to see how it would be translated into film.
The film is a typical romcom about two best friends who despite eventually living on opposite sides of the world, retain a strong connection, with so many “What if’s?” The lead actress is by Lily Collins (Phil Collins’ daughter!), while her male counterpart is Sam Claflin from The Hunger Games.
If you loved Ahern’s other film, “P.S I Love you”, then this is right up your street!
